Bar-Ilan University and NCSY Launch New
“Israel Experience” Program for Graduating High School Students   

  The newly launched Bar-Ilan University (BIU) and NCSY “Israel Experience” co-ed program is quickly attracting tremendous interest from graduating high school students. This program is being done in partnership with the Orthodox Union, which oversees NCSY. It provides high level formal educational courses at one of Israel’s top universities with the informal extracurricular program incorporating popular NCSY style trips and activities.

Participants in the “Israel Experience” program will have a complete university experience studying at Bar-Ilan. They can take classes taught strictly in English or combine English courses with Hebrew-taught classes. Credits earned at Bar-Ilan will be easily transferable back home in American colleges. Participants will live in student dorms near campus, have a choice of internships, participate in community service activities and mentoring programs; and take part in NCSY Shabbatons and trips throughout the year.

American Jewish students will have an opportunity to be on a large, beautiful campus, where they can interact with Bar-Ilan’s world-class professors and 33,000 students who attend the University from all over Israel. They will have access to the Middle East’s largest English-language library and benefit from an academic environment featuring 1,500 courses offered by the world’s largest Jewish Studies faculty.

As students explore Israel and enjoy activities such as skiing, camel riding and rappelling, they will be learning about the Jewish significance behind each location that is visited. This program is a great opportunity for those students who wish to continue their academic pursuits in a university, but also have a strong desire to explore their Jewish roots and connect to their homeland.

The cost is $18,800, comparable to the current tuition rate of Israeli seminaries and yeshivas and less than half the price of a year’s tuition at most American private universities. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. There will be both need-based and academic-based grants, as well as an early registration discount. With spaces in the “Israel Experience” limited to 100 students, those who are interested in this program are urged to sign up quickly.
